Review: Global Trade Controls Conference in Asia

19.06.06:  AEB provided a guest speaker at the Global Trade Controls - Asia conference which was held at Le Meridien hotel in Singapore on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th May 2006. This was the first event of its kind to be held in Asia, and is a development of the annual Global Trade Controls conference held in London, which will celebrate its 19th annual conference this year.

About 70 delegates from around the world attended the conference which was set up to focus on some of the fundamental aspects of national and international trade controls and the export of products and technology from Asia. Programme highlights included:

  • the scope of trade controls

  • designing and managing compliance programmes

  • US re-export controls, embargoes and sanctions

  • product classification

  • international agreements on export controls

  • the use of IT in compliance programmes


Mark Brannan – a Senior Business Systems Analyst with AEB (International) Ltd. – delivered a presentation on 'The Role of Software in Effective Corporate Compliance Programs'. The presentation focused on the importance of software in areas such as export licence determination, technology transfer management, licence management, restricted party address screening, employee training, and demonstration of due diligence.
